Who said juices were the only thing you can drink for weight loss? For most mornings, there is nothing better than a hot, delicious, and savory meal. That's why I provided my top favorite broths that I drink when I want something light in the mornings.

You know, when it comes to loosing weight, making something simple, light and nourishing can make all the difference. Broths are a wonderful way to warm-up, and stay hydrated, especially during these colder months.
Making a broth, whether for breakfast, lunch, or dinner is a great way to enjoy a bowl or cup of flavor without adding on extra calories or fat. Below are some of the broths that you can make at home to add to your weight loss journey.

How To Make It:
Combine all of the ingredients in a large pot and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat and simmer for about 45 minutes. Strain the liquid through a mesh strainer, discard the bulky vegetables, and season with salt and pepper to your liking. Store air tight containers or ice cube trays for later use.

How To Make It:
Heat the water until it's just warm enough but not boiling. Dissolve the miso paste into the water by patiently whisking. Strain to remove any undissolved solids, and the broth is ready to enjoy. Add chopped green onions for extra flavor.

Simmer the ginger slices in water for about 20 minutes. You want that strong ginger taste. Strain out the ginger and season the broth with the soy sauce and salt for added flavor. The latter two can be adjusted to your liking.

Start by blending and straining the tomatoes, then combine the tomato puree with water in a pot. Add the bay leaf and simmer for 15 minutes. Next, remove the bay leaf and season with salt and pepper to taste. Add more water to make broth consistency. Less water will be a thick soup.

First, add the lemongrass, lime zest, and ginger to a pot with water and simmer for about 20 minutes. Strain out the chunks and add your pinch of salt to your taste.

How To Make It:
Place the seaweed (kombu) in a pot of water and let it soak for 20 minutes. No heat needed at this time. Next, heat the water, but don't let it boil. This can make your broth bitter, yuck. Now, remove the seaweed and season with a touch of soy sauce if desired.
Optional: I know in a lot of Asian dishes the seaweed is let in the broth. If this is what you prefer then go for it. 🙂

How To Make It:
Caramelize the onions in a dry pan until lightly browned. Add the onions, bay leaf, and water to a pot and simmer for 30 minutes. Strain and season to taste.

Simmer the turmeric and ginger in water for 15 minutes. Strain the broth and add a pinch of black pepper for a better absorption of the turmeric's nutrients.

How To Make It:
Simmer the mushrooms, garlic, and bay leaf in water for about 30 minutes. Strain out the mushrooms and enjoy your broth.

How To Make It:
Combine all of the ingredients in a pot and simmer for 20 minutes. Strain the broth to remove the spices, and enjoy the warming, aromatic flavors.
